Low-Carbon Lab

Goal of the committee
Protecting our planet and its biodiversity have become major issues.According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees by 2100, we need to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The Paris climate agreements set a target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40% by 2030, which calls for a radical change in our working habits.
Research has a duty to set an example by proposing solutions and adopting practices that are compatible with this objective. That's why, at the CSGA, we have set up a unit called the “ low-carbon lab ” to initiate and implement the necessary rapid changes. Its members are Bérénice Houinsou-Houssou, Yaël Grosjean, Amandine Chlémaire and Stéphane Dupas.
The main breakdowns of emissions by category for a laboratory are purchases, missions, home-work travel, equaly with heating, electricity, digital, cooling, ....Based on this observation, we are seeking to coordinate actions with everyone at the CSGA with the aim of changing our working methods, while basing ourselves on the national experience of the labo1point5 collective, but also locally with the initiatives taken by INRAe, the Agro Institute and the University of Burgundy.
To reduce our carbon footprint and protect biodiversity, we need to identify the actions we can take effectively, and then make collective and individual commitments.
From students to team leaders and unit managers, everyone can and must take action.
