The CSGA invites Matthias Durieu for a seminar on Friday, June 20th at 11:30 am.
Matthias has received his doctorate in Toulouse, Paul Sabatier University, in 2021. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the EPFL in Lausanne, working on Drosophila object-manipulation learning in Pavan Ramdya's lab.

Talk's topic
Affordance learning of object manipulation in Drosophila
Abstract
Join us to explore how Drosophila melanogaster learns to manipulate objects through affordance learning !
Using a novel behavioral paradigm, we show that flies can spontaneously learn and generalize ball-pushing strategies without explicit reinforcement.
Our brain-wide neuronal silencing screen reveals the distributed neural circuits underlying this flexible behavior.
This work positions Drosophila as a powerful model for studying the integration of sensory, motor, and cognitive processes in object interaction.
