Cholinergic Signaling Regulates the Development and Function of Macrophages in Drosophila.

Neuro-immune interactions are vital for maintaining homeostasis and regulating immune responses. 

Using the model Drosophila, our lab recently discovered a new signaling axis between the nervous system and the immune system mediated by cholinergic neurons.

Our findings suggest that acetylcholine plays a key role in modulating immune responses, influencing both developmental hematopoiesis and immune activation.

This work underscores the nervous system’s role in shaping innate immune function.
