Context and objectives
Insects use chemical compounds to communicate and inform on several physiological status (stress, sexual recognition and mating, aggregation, hierarchy). The project and objectives are novel and open multiple approaches (chemistry and behavior) to cover a complete description and mechanistic of the drosophila communications. We will particularly focus on the signal perception via olfaction and/or gustation and use of drosophila modified / mutant lines to be challenged through behavioral technologies as the main tools employed for the project. The successful candidate will join the GustaBrain team in CSGA-Dijon, and contribute to an interdisciplinary project combining neurosciences, chemical communications, behavior, and sensory biology.
The project InsTA is scheduled for 18 months starting in autumn 2026 (to be defined). Beside the maintenance and handling of Drosophila lines, the selected candidate will contribute to the optimization of biological samples production and collection, the behavioral experiments and assay development, the data acquisition, statistical analyses and reporting. Experimental approaches will include: flyPAD, video tracking (Ethovision), PER (Proboscis Extension Reflex), Calcium imaging and Optogenetics (STROBE).

Candidate profile
We are looking for an engineer/Postdoctoral fellow with biological knowledge in Drosophila. Strong expertise in behavior analysis, neurobiology and imaging skills would be required. Respect for confidentiality will be mandatory. Team spirit, autonomy and good laboratory practices will be appreciated.
Work environment

- The CSGA: The work will take place within the Center for Taste and feeding Behavior (CSGA) in Dijon. The CSGA is an institution gathering 10 teams working on the diverse aspect of feeding on models ranging from cellular to humans, which offer a rich scientific environment with amazing collaboration perspective.

- The team: The recently created GustaBrain team is led by Dr. Pierre-Yves Musso. The applicant will benefit from the support of the rest of team and innovative technologies such as the flyPAD and the STROBE.

Interested?
The successful applicant will be paid thanks to the ANR France 2030 program with salary according to his/her experience. We are looking forward to receiving your online application with the following documents:
- Cover letter describing your motivation and research experience (max. 1 page).
- A curriculum vitae.
- Contact information for up to four references.
